‪I am appalled by the scenes that took place on Exmouth beach yesterday. We must all, including parents, take responsibility for the spread of coronavirus. Now is not the time for mass gatherings.

PM announces easing of lockdown restrictions

Today the Prime Minister announced the next stage of easing the lockdown from 4th July.

I know this will be particularly welcome by the tourism, hospitality and leisure industry in East Devon but I’m acutely aware some will still have concerns.

12,200 jobs in East Devon supported by the furlough scheme

It was great to speak with David Wood from ITV Westcountry today about the steps taken to protect jobs across the South West throughout the pandemic. 12,200 jobs have been furloughed in East Devon. Lives and livelihoods have been protected across the South West.

Reopening shops safely

Great to visit Fields of Sidmouth today to see the measures put in place to keep everyone safe as they re-open on Monday. I also popped into The Dairy Shop & Market Fish who’ve done a great job throughout the pandemic. We must think #localfirst to protect shops across East Devon.

PM praises Freddie's lego Nightingale hospital

I loved Freddie’s very own Nightingale hospital and so did the Prime Minister. Freddie has been incredibly brave. It’s great to see that he’s made a full recovery and is looking forward to going back to school.
