Great to visit Ottery St Mary and West Hill today. I met with residents living on and around the B3180 worried about road safety who’ve set up an action group. I share their concerns about speeding and the number of HGV’s using this narrow road.
The new flexible NHS Nightingale Hospital Exeter will spring into action as a cancer testing centre and start screening multiple patients a day from next Monday. This is very welcome news for many people in East Devon and will be a huge help for our community hospitals and the RD&E.
Valuable opportunity to speak with Police & Crime Commissioner Alison Hernandez and officers from Devon & Cornwall Police this afternoon on Exmouth beach. Extra patrols are in place following incidents last week to keep residents and visitors safe.
Great to visit and enjoy a delicious coffee from The Little Deli in Sidmouth. They’ve recently opened for the first time and they are already popular! Good to see much of the town #OpenForBusiness. Think #localfirst, support our local shops and protect jobs.
Budleigh is #OpenForBusiness. It was valuable to speak to shopkeepers who stayed open throughout lockdown or re-opened last week. Great to see a new business working hard to open for the first time too! Let’s think #localfirst, support our local shops and protect jobs.
The very best of the BBC often comes from local newsrooms across the country. We cannot lose Politics South West or Inside Out. Time and time again, the BBC sharpens its axe on the very services which keep it connected to our communities. Enough!
It was great to speak with David Wood from ITV Westcountry today about the steps taken to protect jobs across the South West throughout the pandemic. 12,200 jobs have been furloughed in East Devon. Lives and livelihoods have been protected across the South West.
