I’m in awe of the incredible efforts to build NHS Nightingale Hospital Exeter on our doorstep in East Devon. Keep up the great work #TeamNightingale. Our communities are truly grateful for everything you are doing in the fight against this dreadful virus.
I’ve received a couple of emails asking if I’d support an extension to the Brexit transition period. I will reply to each and every email but want to make something clear, I don’t and won’t support an extension. It’s taken long enough to deliver the will of a democratic decision.
Councils serving East Devon and Exeter have received £186.89m to help our communities through the pandemic. This extra government funding has helped provide care, supported businesses and protected many jobs.
Devon has been picked to receive a share of £300m to support test and trace services across the county. The funding will be used to develop and put in place measures to further reduce the spread of the virus in Devon.
This is great news for East Devon. We need careers, not just jobs and this exciting venture on our doorstep will help improve local skills now and in the future. Great work by Devon County Council and Exeter College. I can’t wait to visit!
