For people outside Devon, the idea of rolling blazing barrels of fire down their street for fun probably seems a bit peculiar. For us locals, it’s a part of county’s rich history and an exciting opportunity to bring communities across the area together in beautiful Ottery St Mary.
It takes a lot to get this event going each year and the organisers do a fantastic job of keeping it fun whilst safe. That’s why it’s so important we give them all the support we can, and buying one of their new Tar Barrel branded wines - selected by Devon's very own experts at Christopher Piper Wines - is a great way to do it.
To help this event carry on for years to come, grab yourself a bottle from their merchandise store on Silver Street or at the Volunteer Inn, where they also offer a delicious pint of Devon Red which I enjoyed last Saturday! You can grab the new wines and a whole load of other gifts online at www.ottery-st-mary-carnival.sumupstore.com as well.
