The UK’s hospitality sector makes a massive contribution to our economy and everyday lives.
It was a pleasure to host the @UKHospitality reception in Parliament today and speak alongside its brilliant CEO, Kate Nicholls OBE, and Business Minister Kevin Hollinrake MP.
In East Devon alone, the hospitality sector supports around 6000 jobs and generates an annual turnover of £281 million. I celebrated the positive impact our hospitality businesses have on Devon’s local communities by providing local jobs, great food, delicious drinks and unforgettable experiences.
As Chair of the Hospitality & Tourism APPG, I want the government to continue its strong record of industry support by taking three clear actions:
1️⃣ Implementing a 3% cap for the large property business rates multiplier.
2️⃣ Introducing a cut in the lower rate of employers' National Insurance Contributions to 10%.
3️⃣ Permanently reducing the VAT rate on hospitality businesses to 12.5%.
I will continue to work with the hospitality industry in Devon and throughout the UK to make sure their voice is heard in Parliament. Thank you to all our great businesses for everything they do.
