The hospitality industry makes a huge contribution to our local economy, providing fantastic experiences and creating jobs in the process.
As Chair of the Hospitality and Tourism All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG), I was invited to a meeting of the Professional Association of Self-Caterers (PASC) hosted by the group’s founder, Alistair Handyside, at Higher Wiscombe near Colyton.
The meeting focused on the new government registration scheme which will see every provider of short-term lets required to provide safe and quality assured accommodation, just as other guest accommodation providers must currently do.
It would also provide local authorities with information about which premises are being let out in their area, helping them to assess and manage the impact on the local housing market.
Thank you to Alistair for inviting me along! It was great to speak with so many East Devon businesses about the importance of creating a level playing field.
