I appreciate the sensitive nature of this issue.  It is for this reason that, as with other matters of conscience, the Government adopts a neutral stance on abortion, allowing Conservative MPs to vote freely according to their moral, ethical, or religious beliefs. This is a convention which I support wholeheartedly.  

As your MP I want to be entirely clear on where I stand on the issue of abortion before addressing your immediate concerns. 

I believe women have a moral right to decide what to do with their bodies and therefore support their right to choose to end a pregnancy. However, this shouldn’t ever be a decision taken lightly and I’m aware of the deeply distressing impact of such a choice.   

I believe abortion care is an essential part of health care for women.
